POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Production Planner is responsible for planning and managing production schedules to meet customer delivery requirements and best utilize DEUTZ’s productive capacity. The Production Planner will liaise with the Production Planning Manager and team members to fulfill production orders and needs. The ideal candidate must have a team spirit and be able to work with others effectively. Additionally, the production planner must have strong attention-to-detail and demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to set goals and objectives. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 

The ​Production Planner​ will be responsible for, but not limited to the following duties: 

  • Manage, release and close production orders to align with demand signal (forecast, sales, and safety stock). 

  • Plans and manages production schedules to meet customer delivery requirements and best utilize DEUTZ’s productive capacity.  

  • Improve effective scheduling process to achieve production objectives using capacity planning tool, Pro-tracker staged kits, and Production Schedule.  

  • Analyze sales order releases with respect to capacity planning and material requirements.  

  • Respond to termination or cancellation requests from Sales.  

  • Review in-process orders from the production floor. 

  • Receive and review sales orders against current requirements and work in process using the material requirement planning report. 

  • Interfaces with manufacturing personnel, the purchasing department, and supervisors on material status and production planning issues.  

  • Reviews master production schedule and work orders  

  • Establish and adjust priorities for specific customer orders. 

  • Release work orders to departments denoting the number, type, and proposed completion date of units to be produced.  

  • Revise schedule according to work order specifications, established priorities, and availability or capability of workers, parts, material, machines, and equipment.  

  • Support the processing of Prototype builds as required (DCSC). 

  • Provide support to the NPI process (DCSC). 

  • Provide support to the area Supervisor for the implementation of new processes such as Lean Cell, TQM, Productivity Tracking, etc.  

  • Provide support to Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Manager, and DEUTZ’s Production Management as required.  

  • Establish work order start dates and communicates adjustments to Sales Admin, Program Managers, and Production personnel as needed.  

  • Update late delivery report with Root Cause weekly. Establish economic order quantity and/or minimum stocking levels as necessary with input from Planning Manager. 

  • Adjust part number internal lead times as needed.  

  • Provide support in the training of employees.  

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Travel Demands: Anticipated domestic and international travel is approximately 0-10% depending on business needs.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school 

 

1-2 years of production planning experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

 

Strong strategy skills with the ability to look for ways to improve and promote quality 

 

Strong planning/organizing skills with the ability to prioritize and plan work activities; Uses time efficiently; Sets goals and objectives 

 

Strong cost consciousness with the ability to work within approved budget; Develop and implement cost-saving measures; conserve organizational resources 

 

Strong attention to detail skills with the ability to demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness. 

 

Knowledge of MRP II, MS Office, and ERP systems.
