Job Summary

The Repair Technician will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and documenting engines that fail testing after assembly. Performs proper root cause analysis to capture repair data to support development of fault tree analysis and continuous improvement of processes to avoid repeat failures. The technician will collaborate closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to reduce repeat failures and improve the overall process. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

The Corporate Repair Technician will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:  

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot failure problems, perform structured repairs to pass dyno and make all critical adjustments. 

  • Repair or replace broken or faulty parts and fix issues (e.g. leaks) 

  • Accurately document failure modes, repair actions, and corrective steps. 

  • Collect and organize repair data to support fault tree analysis and long-term improvement initiatives. 

  • Conduct root cause analysis before repair, avoiding short-term fixes. 

  • Work closely with Production Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to identify trends and provide feedback for process improvements. 

  • Collaborate with Production Engineering Team to: 

  • Share repair trends and insights to guide improvement projects 

  • Support testing and validation of engineering countermeasures and other initiatives 

  • Assist in implementing proposed improvements on shop floor 

  • Support continuous improvement projects to reduce repeat engine failures. 

  • Assist with assembly line, rigging and dyno team as required  

  • Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean, organized work area. 

  • Maintain a safe and well-organized work environment 

  • Perform other duties as assigned 

 
 

Other Qualifications 

  • Mechanically skilled and knowledgeable with the ability effectively utilize mechanical tools 

  • Attention to detail and data accuracy 

  • Strong critical thinking with the ability to effectively apply problem-solving skills 

  • Ability to read, understand, interpret, and follow written and graphic instructions and documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate and speak clearly in a group setting and consult with management and team regarding any foreseen issues  

  • Strong time management and multi-tasking with a demonstrated ability to work accurately, follow instructions/schedules/timelines and handle multiple priorities in a time-sensitive environment 

  • Strong teamwork mentality with a willingness to work with the team on accomplishing overall department goals

Travel Requirements 

  • Anticipated domestic and international travel is approximately 0-10% depending on business needs. 

 

Minimum Requirements 

  • High school education or similar formal education. 

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in engine repair, diesel engines, or mechanical systems. 

  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills. 

  • Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and work instructions. 

  • Basic knowledge of root cause analysis and continuous improvement methods. 

  • Basic computer skills with the ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) 

  

Preferred Requirements  

  • SAP Knowledge Preferred  

Physical Requirements: 

  • Warehouse and dynamometer room environnement. Subject to noise, dust, diesel fuel, and oil. No A/C.
