Job Summary

 

The Technical Writer will work as a key team member within the Engineering team to support with maintaining and developing technical and service documentation for all Deutz Corporation engines and value add offerings.      

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

The Technical Writer will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties: 

 

  • Work alongside the engineering teams to obtain technical data. 

  • Align with the project team to understand timelines and expectations for technical publications.  

  • Update and maintain existing service documentation and technical product pages. 

  • Research new potential solutions to improve customer interaction with our technical pages.  

  • Assist Production Engineering with work instructions, review for accuracy and ease of use.   

  • Support Design Engineering with drawing creation and maintenance. 

  • Support Applications Engineering with the creation of test reports/test plans.  

  • Work with the Service Engineering team to ensure all service documentation meets customer expectations and is easy to use and understand.  

  • Assist in creating and documenting Engineering procedures, processes, and standards. 

  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:  N/A 

 

Travel Demands: Anticipated domestic and international travel is approximately 0-10% depending on business needs.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Description 

 

2+ years of experience as a technical writer 

 

HS Diploma or Equivalent 

 

Experience creating parts manuals, technical data pages, and product overview information 

 

Experience with CAD software 

 

Ability to create and follow SOP 

 

Experience with Microsoft Suite 

 

Technical Degree Preferred 

 

Experience with SAP 

 

Knowledge with diesel engines 

 

Knowledge and experience with had and power tools 

 

Experience with assembly and/or maintenance of engines 

 

Experience working in a prototype/R&D environment

LANGUAGE ABILITY: 

​​Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence. Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.​ 

MATHEMATICAL ABILITY: 

​​Work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.​ 

REASONING ABILITY: 

​​Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.​

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is in an office and manufacturing setting. While in the office, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.   

  • While performing duties that will require the individual to be on the manufacturing floor, the individual will have continuous exposure to typical engine environment, no A/C, and exposure to running engines in a closed environment with appropriate protective gear.
