POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Applications Engineer will manage multiple engines only, prototype installation, customer value-add, and/or power pack development projects.  This role is key for managing distributors, smaller OEMs, onsite prototype projects, and/or current engine platform projects.  

  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  

The Application Engineer will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:  

  

  • Analysis of the customer requirements and development of customer specific system solutions.  

  • Clarification of content, planning, alignment, adequate documentation, evaluation, and approval of customer projects including conducting the application installation reviews of the engine and exhaust after treatment system.  

  • Alignment on installation sign-off documentation with DEUTZ headquarter in Germany.  

  • Verification and Validation (V&V) during value-add project development:   

  • Development of V&V Plans, performing measurements related to V&V and monitoring validation at customer.  

  • Assisting during improvements related to engineering laboratory, test bench, telemetry, and other measurement duties.  

  • Work closely with design engineering to review project designs and ensure customer needs are met during the development process.  

  • Review, align, and present possible new projects to the business team to determine viability and status.  

  • Help determine market needs and oversee new product introduction along with alignment with Deutz headquarters in Germany on new engine platforms in development.  

  • Frequent communication with sales to field requests to product changes or additions. 

  • Other duties as assigned.

Travel Demands: Anticipated domestic and international travel is approximately 20-25% depending on business needs.

5+ Years of development or application experience around compression ignition (CI) or spark ignition (SI) engines, Off-road equipment, or On-highway vehicles

Must be able to travel domestically and internationally by all transportation modes for business

Proficient in 3D Analysis

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is in an office. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee could also be in a shop environment.  This environment will consist of exposure to Diesel engine workshop, machine shop, and engineering laboratory.  

  • High level of travel exposure in dependence of specific customer demands and frequent status meetings
