Job Summary

The Accounting Manager will be responsible for complete and accurate general ledger accounting and monthly reconciliation of various corporate-level balance sheet accounts and assisting with financial statement fluctuation analysis. The Accounting Manager will liaise with our accounting staff and controller to ensure financial statements are accurate and timely. The Accounting Manager will work closely with senior executives. The ideal candidate must be knowledgeable in finance with a demonstrable ability to perform financial planning and forecasting processes. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

The  ​Accounting Manager​ will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties: 

  • Manages and prepares financial reports, including IFRS financial statements, annual US GAAP financial statements, internal reports, purchase card administrator, and general ledger analysis. 

  • Process accounting reporting to the parent headquarters in Germany 

  • Conduct transactions for Concur travel and entertainment, check authorizations, review weekly payment run, wire transfer, ACH, and Cognos Reporting to Germany 

  • Ensures accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close while managing tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities, including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation, and the support of budget and forecast activities. 

  • Assists controller with monthly closing and developing budgets Special Projects 

  • Supervise and conduct cross-training of direct reports such as Senior Accountant, Accountant, and Accounts Payable and administrative staff to ensure work is properly allocated and completed.  

  • Maintains service management accounting. 

  • Assist in the development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department. 

  • Other duties as assigned.  

Supervisory Responsibilities:  Yes, this role will have direct reports. 

 

Travel Demands: Anticipated domestic and international travel is approximately 0-10% depending on business needs.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting  

 

CPA required 

 

Understanding of GAAP and regulations 

 

Minimum of 5+ years of accounting experience from a large or medium-sized firm 

 

Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required 

 

Working knowledge of corporate accounting, treasury, and tax functions  

 

Strong interpersonal, supervisory, and demonstrated leadership skills 

 

Ability to effectively communicate financial data to executive-level management and staff ---- Legal, Directors, and the Controller 

 

Team player 

 

SAP experience preferred or comparable ERP System 

 

Accounting experience in the manufacturing environment preferred

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze information to identify problems and challenges within facing an organization and its accounting framework, then use an integrated approach to developing solutions to address them.  

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to emphasize accuracy and consistency in financial best practices. 

  • Strong sense of accountability with the ability to be careful, knowledgeable, and confident with the accuracy of DEUTZ financial statements. 

  • Working knowledge of Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word, and Windows. 

 

 

LANGUAGE ABILITY: 

​​Read, analyze and interpret scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, agencies or members of the business community. Write speeches and articles for publication.​ 

MATHEMATICAL ABILITY: 

​​Apply advanced concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations and permutations. Apply operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, test reliability/validity, variance analysis, correlation technique, sampling theory and factor analysis.​ 

REASONING ABILITY: 

​​Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.​
