This position is part of our newly established Deutz Defense Systems organization and offers the exciting opportunity to actively shape and further develop this forward-looking business area.

What you can expect from us:

 

Government & Military Relations:

  • Establish and maintain close relationships with government representatives, procurement authorities, military organizations, and regulatory bodies
  • Represent the Business Unit in government meetings, defense forums, and procurement briefings to promote our solutions
  • Ensure that decision-makers within European armed forces and defense ministries are fully informed about our products, services, and technological capabilities
  • Participate in industry associations, working groups, and defense policy discussions to position the company as a key player
  • Support the sales team by facilitating contacts and strengthening relationships with public-sector clients

 

Market Monitoring & Strategic Reporting:

  • Monitor national and international defense procurement programs, fleet modernization plans, and political developments to identify new business opportunities
  • Provide structured analyses of defense budgets, emerging military requirements, and geopolitical developments with potential impacts on procurement decisions
  • Collaborate closely with the Director of Strategy and sales teams to ensure product strategy aligns with future government needs
  • Maintain a real-time database of procurement timelines, military modernization priorities, and upcoming tenders

 

Public Affairs & Compliance:

  • Advise the Business Unit on defense procurement regulations, public contracting procedures, and funding mechanisms (e.g. European Defence Fund, NATO procurement)
  • Coordinate closely with the Export Control Manager to ensure all government interactions comply with international trade laws and ethical standards
  • Support navigation of bureaucratic processes to successfully participate in government tenders and contract negotiations

 

Internal Collaboration:

  • Provide market analysis and strategic recommendations to R&D and engineering teams to align product development with military requirements
  • Support sales and customer success teams in preparing proposals and responding to government inquiries
  • Coordinate with the back office to ensure all administrative and legal requirements are met for government contracts

 

 

 

What sets you apart:

 

  • University degree in Political Science, Economics, Law, Defense Policy, or a comparable qualification
  • Several years of experience in government relations, defense procurement, or public affairs, ideally in the defense or security industry
  • In-depth knowledge of European defense structures, procurement processes, and relevant regulations
  • Proven experience in working with political decision-makers, government authorities, and industry associations
  • Excellent communication and diplomatic skills, combined with strategic thinking
  • Very good command of German and English, both written and spoken
