Job Summary

The Quality Assurance Director is responsible for planning, developing, leading, and monitoring the implementation of construction quality assurance and quality control systems, plans, and procedures. Performs internal/external audits of programs/projects and provides regular input for the planning and design of methods to perform work. This role requires a candidate who can build great relationships with peers and supervisors while representing the DEUTZ brand with excellence.  

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

The Director of Quality Assurance will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties: 

 

  • Establishes and leads teams/departments providing needed inspections, testing and control of operations (e.g., construction projects). Sets and implements procedures for scheduling, reviewing, certifying, and managing submissions. Develops and conducts training and orientations to ensure staff are familiar with all roles, responsibilities, and processes for project success. 

  • Performs internal/external audits as needed to ensure Quality Control requirements are implemented and maintained. Establishes and manages non-conformance processes (e.g., corrective actions). Provides indirect oversight of Quality Control teams on projects as required to ensure contract compliance. Analyzes data to identify trend, issues and consult on risk mitigation. Prepares and submits program/project status reports. 

  • Work at a high professional level with global customers and suppliers, with the ability to transition effectively between technical details of any issue and a discussion of business implications. 

  • Stays current with industry developments and best practices to develop and maintain relevant expertise. Promotes an environment that fosters inclusive relationships and creates unbiased opportunities for contributions through ideas, words, and actions that uphold principles of Deutz. 

  • Responsible for monitoring and assuring successful completion of ISO certifications. 

  • Becomes thoroughly knowledgeable of the applicable portions of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) and maintains knowledge base on an ongoing, timely basis as procedural changes occur without relying on management intervention or direction.  

  • Performs other department specific duties as assigned.

Travel Demands: Anticipated domestic and international travel is approximately 45% depending on business needs.

Bachelor’s degree or higher 

 

Prior Manufacturing Experience  

 

Senior management experience with a minimum of 10 years in a quality assurance leadership role 

 

Ability to read and write in German a plus, but not required 

ADDITIONAL REQUIRED SKILLS: 

  • Able to travel internationally for 2 or more weeks at a time as part of a team or independently, interacting directly with company staff, customers, and suppliers. 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with well-structured communication and presentation ability.  

  • Ability to work independently, make improvement suggestions, and work in a team environment is necessary. 

  • Strong ability to prioritize and multi-task daily while maintaining a high level of confidence and professionalism. 

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.  

LANGUAGE ABILITY: 

​​Read, analyze and interpret business, professional, technical or governmental documents. Write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers and the public.​ 

MATHEMATICAL ABILITY: 

​​Apply advanced concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations and permutations. Apply operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, test reliability/validity, variance analysis, correlation technique, sampling theory and factor analysis.​ 

REASONING ABILITY: 

​​Apply logical thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Deal with nonverbal symbolism (e.g., formulas and equations) in difficult phases. Deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.​

  • Manufacturing assembly and warehouse environment.  Subject to noise, dust, diesel fuel, oil, and extreme hot/cold temperatures.   No A/C.   

  • I the office area, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
