Job Summary

The Assembly Lead will be responsible for all stages of the DEUTZ engine assembly and completion process. The role will support staff in all areas of the Reman engine assembly process. The Assembly Lead will mentor and coach employee talent to inspire growth. The ideal candidate should have effective leadership and attention to detail skills.   

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

The Assembly Lead will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:  

  • Oversee preparation of Reman engines and subcomponents for production  

  • Manage the assembly process of Remanufactured engines  

  • Provide daily objectives and priorities to staff 

  • Monitor the performance of production staff daily 

  • Track and report KPI’s of production areas 

  • Provide technical support to staff 

  • Perform and participate in safety and improvement audits weekly 

  • Troubleshoot and report nonconformities pertaining to processes, assembly, and equipment 

  • Monitor and provide training of new and current employees 

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot dyno failure problems, repair or replace broken or faulty parts and fix issues (e.g. leaks) 

  • Ensure that staff members are adhering to company policies and procedures 

  • Assist with line and cell assembly as required  

  • Maintain a safe and well-organized work environment 

  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

 
 

Other Qualifications 

  • Mechanically skilled and knowledgeable with the ability effectively utilize mechanical tools 

  • Strong critical thinking with the ability to effectively apply problem-solving skills 

  • Ability to read, understand, interpret, and follow written and graphic instructions and documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate and speak clearly in a group setting and consult with management and team regarding any foreseen issues  

  • Strong time management and multi-tasking with a demonstrated ability to work accurately, follow instructions/schedules/timelines and handle multiple priorities in a time-sensitive environment 

  • Strong teamwork mentality with a willingness to work with the team on accomplishing overall department goals

Travel Requirements 

  • Anticipated domestic and international travel is approximately 0-10% depending on business needs. 

 

Minimum Requirements 

  • High school education or similar formal education 

  • Minimum of 3 years of assembly/manufacturing experience 

  • Must have leadership experience in a dynamic group setting 

  • Basic computer skills with the ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Work, Excel, PowerPoint) 

 

Preferred Requirements  

  • Learn Six Sigma Training  

  • SAP Knowledge preferred  

 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Manufacturing assembly and warehouse environment.  Subject to noise, dust, diesel fuel, oil, and extreme hot/cold temperatures.   No A/C.   

  • If the employee is located in the office area, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
