Job Summary
The Accounting Specialist will improve compliance with sales tax exemption on customers’ accounts receivable accounts within OneSource software. This will be done by having proper documentation and training for field personnel and customers. It will be important to track performance, review accuracy according to business rules, and collaborate with state audit findings. This position will also work with accounting, tax, and credit teams to confirm if any changes are needed for OneSource Tax software or internal procedures. Serve as a backup to the purchasing card program by reviewing applications, assisting with technical issues within SAP Concur software, and reviewing the weekly reimbursement log.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Review, validate, and manage customer exemption and resale certificates in Thompson Reuter OneSource tax software.
· Be able to research why exemption certificates are not applied to sales invoices
· Audit tax status on various AR customer accounts.
· Maintain an audit-ready file of all exemption documentation in our 3rd party tax system.
· Provide needed reporting of KPIs each month.
· Track and address any root cause issues with audit findings and production errors.
· Monitor sales use tax escalations.
· Provide information to senior accountants for issuance of credit memos to customers.
· Assist with communication to customers who have expired or missing tax certificates.
· Work with business units' subject matter experts to standardize tax exemption processes.
· Attend acquisition calls and provide needed guidance for tax certificates.
· Provide training material to internal sales individuals.
· Contribute to continuous improvement to enhance the experience of the customer and field while limiting sales tax exposure.
· Collaborate with accounting departments regarding the calculated use tax to improve needed procedures.
· Maintain standard operating procedural guides.
· Serve as a backup to the purchasing card program.

· 2-5 years in sales and use tax procedures and tax software

Preferred Requirements
· Degree in accounting or finance

· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
· Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
